About Us

Reproductive Health Champions Organization (RHCO)

is a Community Based Organization (CBO)

founded in the year 2019 and officially registered in 2021 in Kenya, under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, State Department for Social Protection, Department of Social Development. Through
strategic interventions, RHCO promotes and protects health related human rights both at national
and county levels. The organization primarily engages in advocacy that promotes community
awareness on health governance and financing; the need to prioritize sexual and reproductive
health services in every health planning development agenda; and the enhancement of social
accountability in health governance in respect to available legal frameworks and prioritization of
health related needs based on research and development involvement of both the vulnerable,
marginalized population.

RHCO made a strategic decision to pursue healthcare reforms that considers social
change as a catalyst to tangible change and equity in any society. Besides, the organization
embrace the law reforms that envisage movement, in particular social movement as the drivers of
achieving social change, which is described as a broad and almost embryonic set of
organizational effort to change the structure of a society or impact the distribution of resources
within that society. Social change is the sole purpose of RHCO’s social movement; therefore,
law reforms at hand are generally incorporated as a measure towards realizing the desired social
change.

RHCO recognizes the importance of having a holistic approach when it comes to health
governance and financing in the truest sense of democracy, which is a system of government for
the people and by the people of the republic of Kenya as stipulated in the legal provisions. This
is done through capacity building for the members of the public to understand their role in
governance processes including formations of Constitutional human rights defenders; especially
on sexually and reproductive health rights.
